Montblanc Patron of Art 2008 François I. François I became king of France in 1515 at the age of 21. His predecessors, Charles VIII and Louis XII, had fought numerous wars in Italy and were therefore influenced by the Renaissance. François was also impressed by this.

The Montblanc Patron of Arts François I pays tribute to the life and work of this French Renaissance king. The holder is made of synthetic tiger eye, referring to the talisman that François always wore. The other parts of the barrel and the cap are made of black precious resin. The fittings, the clip and the rings are gilded and engraved with graceful Renaissance patterns. The pen has a fixed plunger and an 18 karat gold nib which is engraved with, what else, a French lily.
