With this Montblanc Great Characters Jimi Hendrix fountain pen, Montblanc honors the world famous guitarist Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as"arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music".
The black barrel features a groove pattern inspired by the grooves found on a wah pedal, one of Hendrix's signature sound effects. The platinum coated back of the pen also features an engraving of the word WAH. Another eye-catching detail is the platinum-coated barrel ring, which is made to look like the jack plug on a guitar cable - it's engraved with the date of a famous Jimi Hendrix concert.
The cap of the pen is made of off-white precious resin, the color of the famous 1968 Olympic White Fender Stratocaster that Hendrix played during his legendary performance at the Woodstock festival.
The engraved design on the cap is inspired by his guitar straps, which often had a repeating pattern. The platinum-coated clip is angled to resemble an electric guitar's vibrato bar. At the connection point is a circular engraving with the words 'Are you experience', the name of The Jimi Hendrix Experience's first studio album. Right above that engraving is a purple band, referring to 'Purple Haze', one of Hendrix's most famous songs. The Montblanc emblem in the top of the cap is made of precious resin.
The handmade 14K solid gold nib with rhodium coating is decorated with a portrait of Jimi Hendrix.
