Quasars are bright galactic centers. Most large galaxies have supermassive black holes at their centers that absorb enormous amounts of gas and dust. When the influx of this material reaches a certain level, a Quasar is formed.

Cosmic material swirls around the black hole, creating enormous friction, which emits electromagnetic radiation in the jets that can be a trillion times brighter than the Sun. Quasars only last 10-100 million years, making them difficult to identify in galaxies that are billions of years old. Sailor created this pen to represent this cosmic phenomenon.
