The name Ferrari stands for aesthetic design, powerful engines, nearly impossible technical innovation, and one of the most influential men in automotive history. With a tremendous vision and an unbridled passion for motorsport, Enzo Ferrari led his company to unparalleled prestige and promised a legend that lives on. Montblanc has brought the Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition to life, celebrating the man and his passion for racing.

Inspired by both the emblem of Enzo Ferrari's hometown Modena and the emblematic color of the Scuderia logo, this edition honors Ferrari's second soul - the color yellow. The details of Enzo Ferrari's birth and his first race victory are engraved on the cone, while his signature and the name of his father's workshop, 'Officina Meccanica Alfredo Ferrari', specified to Enzo Ferrari's birthplace, are engraved on the top of the cap. It is crowned by the Montblanc emblem in precious blue resin - as an additional tribute to the emblem of Modena - and finished with intricate metalwork reminiscent of a vintage car grille. The first victory of Enzo Ferrari, at the Circuito del Savio, was also the occasion that it began marking the now famous Ferrari logo. Among the many spectators who admired Enzo Ferrari's daring driving style that day was the family of top pilot Francesco Baracca, who had served in the same unit during World War I as Enzo's brother Dino.

The mother of Francesco Baracca, Countess Paolina Biancoli, suggested that Enzo Ferrari use the emblem of a rearing, untamed horse from her son's airplane on his race cars for good luck. The association of the horse with the courage and the will to dominate of a national hero made it an ideal symbol for Enzo. Nine years later, in 1932, the Cavallino Rampante was first used on a yellow background to mark a car during the 24 hours of Spa, and the Scuderia Ferrari team also took first and second place with two cars featuring the rearing horse. The Cavallino Rampante is engraved on the cap of the Montblanc Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition, along with the words of the engraving: 'Le porterà fortuna' ('It will bring you luck').

The first car Ferrari made, the 125 S, with twelve cylinders, left the factory in Maranello on March 12, 1947. Twelve engraved lines symbolize the twelve cylinders. The motto of Enzo Ferrari, 'You cannot describe passion, you can only live it', adorns the ruthenium-coated clip. As a tribute to Enzo's success, the enormous Au 585 gold, ruthenium-coated nib is engraved with the word 'Pilota' (one of his nicknames) and the steering wheel of the 250 GTO, one of the world's most advanced racing cars.
