The Montblanc John F. Kennedy Special Edition burgundy fountain pen is part of the "Great Characters" series. Previously published in this series; Leonardo Da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, Alfred Hitchcock and the dark blue JFK.

This special edition features numerous features that once again refer directly to Kennedy's life and work. The base material of the pen is precious resin in burgundy red, a color that refers to Kennedy's famous Ivy League style and is inspired by his time at Harvard University.
All fittings on the collection are champagne gold plated. The clip is engraved with his initials; JFK. The three rings on the wide brim represent his three brothers; Joseph, Robert and Edward. The pattern of these cap rings is also inspired by the footprints of the first steps on the moon, while his vision to send a man to the moon is also immortalized by the engraving of the lunar lander on the 14 carat gold nib. The double rings on the holder refer to his rank as a Lieutenant during World War II, where he commanded a motor torpedo boat.
