Nakaya Writer Piccolo Toki-tamenuri fountain pen
The Nakaya Writer Piccolo Toki-tamenuri fountain pen is made of ebonite finished with a beautiful Wajami urishi lacquer. This compact little size, fits just as well in the hand, without having to "post" the cap. Ebonite is a light material, so the pen can be made a little longer and thicker without it becoming too heavy. Several transparent urushi layers are applied over the light brown base color, which are each time dried and then polished. The more coats that are applied, the darker the final color of the pen will be. With this pen this results in a beautiful dark brown lacquered pen, in which the underlying, in this case, light brown layers become visible in the sharper transitions. The name refers to this; "Tame" means "pond" and refers to the transparency of the top coat and "nuri" means "layer" which refers to the painting process.
The design of the pen is simple and sober, no gold-plated rings and no clip. The fountain pen is slightly longer than usual and intended to be used without a cap on the back. it is also not recommended to place the cap on the back of the container because of damage to the beautiful urushi paint.).
The nibs are 14 karat gold and can be ordered in different writing widths.
Nakaya fountain pens are made to order, delivery time varies from three to about six months, but the pens are well worth the wait.
We have a small "iron stock" that we will try to maintain. In addition, it is of course possible to order the pen with your specific preference regarding the holder, color urushi and nib from us.
