Visconti Comedia Purgatorio fountain pen

Dante Alighieri was born in 1265 in Florence and is considered the greatest Italian poet to have ever lived. He is also known as the father of the Italian language as we know it. His main work "Comedia", later known as the Divine Comedy (Divina Commedia), is a masterpiece of world literature that explores the afterlife through three realms: Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Each realm is depicted with vivid imagery and symbolism, reflecting Dante's moral and spiritual vision of life. Inspired by this epic poem, Visconti has created the new Visconti Comedia collection that captures the essence of each realm in its design and craftsmanship.

Each pen is equipped with a special finish and colored resin that is specifically designed to express the imagery of each of Dante's realms. The Inferno (Hell) is made of solid black resin with fire-red accents and a dark ruthenium finish, evoking the fire and darkness of the Inferno. Purgatorio (Purgatory) features palladium decorative edges, while the resin is taupe brown like the purgatory mountain with gray tones representing the purifying journey of the souls. Paradiso (Heaven) is finally heavenly blue with yellow-gold decorations, symbolizing the holy light and joyful nobility of paradise.

These three different versions of the Comediaar are united by the unique design of the central ring, specially conceived for this collection and covered with two bands featuring a hammered texture - a detail that can also be found in the signature metal part of the pens.

Each central ring is then individually engraved by our craftsmen with the inscription "Comedia" followed by the name of the specific model - Inferno, Purgatori, or Paradiso. The Visconti Comedia is once again an expression of Visconti's love for the city of Florence, the cradle of the Italian Renaissance and embodiment of the craftsmanship that characterizes our creations.
